About the property

New for 2013
Wifi is in the house you your use, no charge.
A new wooden laminated floor has been laid for the kitchen and dining area.

Set in the beautiful village of Portuairk, Eilean Feoir, is a comfortable family home. Behind the house, hills shelter the village which are ideal for hiking and exploring. In front, the house looks over the small village, sandy coastline and across the sea to Sanna and the Isles of Muck, Eigg, Rhum and Skye. Just a stones throw away, the waters edge lets you watch the tide ebb and flow from your living room window whilst enjoying the warmth from the stove. There is a short walk to lovely beaches and secluded coves along the coast. Eilean Feoir has an open plan kitchen and dining area which leads onto the living room creating a spacious feel. The house is very well looked after giving it a bright, clean appearance.

All on one level: front porch leading to the hall, living room with multi-fuel stove, large kitchen and dining area, utility room, double bedroom with shower, toilet and basin en-suite, two twin bedrooms and bathroom.

Ardnamurchan is just as beautiful in the Winter. Fantastic break, plenty warm enough and appreciated the Christmas touches. Highlight – Rainbow in the bay on Christmas morning.

I returned to the village of Portuairk for the first time in over 20 years last summer. We booked the beautifully appointed Eilean Feoir, nestling in the side of the hill, overlooking the bay across to Sanna.
This modern bungalow is extremely well equipped and is prepared for all eventualities (calor gas lamps, candles incase of power cuts!), plenty of matches, wood and coal for the lovely log burning stove, satellite TV and CD player and linen upon request. All 3 bedrooms are of a good size and the beds are very comfy (a big must for me!) – even including an electric blanket for those renting in the colder months of the year. The owners, Janet & Alistair McColl have thought of just about everything to make it feel like a real home from home. They have even installed a payphone to save guests having to trail down to the public phone box (most mobile phones don’t get a signal in the village).

The village of Portuairk is beautiful, accessed by single track road and although some houses have been added since my last visit, it still has the feel of a real wee hidden treasure. The local beach is literally a stone’s throw from the road and if you enjoy hillwalking, there are plenty of walks to keep you happy. I never cease to be amazed by the view from the top of the approach road – it’s easy to feel everyday stresses and worries melt away. Go and see what I mean!
