About the property

Situated in the pretty village of Kilchoan on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, The Byre has been creatively and expertly refurbished, with a high quality and unique finish.

The homely, spacious living room is warmed by a Morso Squirrel stove and from here the spiral staircase coils its way to the double bedroom. If the weather doesn’t permit the exploration of the charming village of Kilchoan and its encompassing landscape the 40″TV and DVD player allows some comforting entertainment on blustery nights.

Outside the premises a seating and patio area allows you to enjoy the mature garden with fruit trees, vibrant flowers, and a burn weaving through it. It has breath-taking views over the Sound of Mull from south facing windows. We provide plenty of wood to stoke the fire and with no other extra costs you can relax in the peaceful setting of Kilchoan.

Built it 1886, The Byre comprises a kitchen with dining area, bathroom and toilet, large living room with a high ceiling and multi-fuel stove. A spiral staircase leads to a spacious bedroom with a king size bed.

Closed from end of October to beginning of April
£30 fuel supplement during October

We have had a fabulous week here, walking for most of the day and returning to the peace and comfort of The Byre which feels more like a home than a holiday let! Thank you so much for the welcome – flowers on the table, a bottle of wine and the store alight.

—Tom & Laurie Clark

The Byre has been all that we hoped it would be – a quirky, comfortable holiday home, an excellent place to relax in wonderful surroundings and a good base for exploring this beautiful part of the country. Loved the stove – and the garden!

“The Byre” is by far the best holiday cottage I’ve stayed in. The sunlight floods in from all directions and it’s even more homely than my own home. It’s very well decorated and equipped, and ideally located for quick access to the ferry, shop, post office and pub, but still gloriously peaceful. We were entertained in the evenings by a bat swooping round the garden. I’ll miss the place.
