Keeper’s West at Ardnamurchan Lighthouse
About the property
Keeper Cottage West is located at the most westerly point of mainland Britain and is nestled right underneath the majestic Ardnamurchan Lighthouse. Built in 1849 out of granite from the Isle of Mull, the lighthouse was designed by Alan Stevenson, uncle of Robert Louis Stevenson and towers majestically 55 metres above the sea. With a lovely cafe and gift shop close by and the opportunity to spot minke whales, dolphins and basking sharks in the seas below, Keeper Cottage West provides a spectacular and unique experience for those who like to stay somewhere a little bit out of the ordinary!
Originally home to a lighthouse keeper, Keeper Cottage West provides the ideal experience for the adventure loving visitor. With breath-taking, panoramic sea views and beautiful sunsets, the location of this cottage is hard to beat. Encompassing entrances to both the lighthouse and the two Keeper Cottages, is a cobbled courtyard. The well-furnished cottage can be enjoyed in every season, on the clear days when panoramic views extend out in every direction and the exhilarating, wild, stormy evenings when the heating ensures a cosy stay. There is an abundance of wildlife and the skies overhead are frequented by a variety of birdlife, including golden and sea eagles.
All on one level, a kitchen with dining area, a comfortable living room, a double bedroom with king size bed and a bedroom with bunk beds. There is also a bathroom with shower and bath.

We wanted some time away ‘off the grid’ and Keeper’s Cottage West was the perfect choice. My declaration that our mobiles would be turned off was irrelevant as we couldn’t have had mobile reception if we wanted. The peace and solitude first thing in the morning and last thing at night were exactly what we had hoped for. We will definitely be back.
