About the property
Eilean Feoir means in Gaelic “ Grass Island “ The cottage, located in the stunning village of Portuairk, is tastefully decorated, bright and spacious and provides the perfect location for a family holiday right by the beach. The well-equipped, detached house, is peacefully positioned in the heart of the settlement and has magnificent sea views towards Sanna Bay, the Small Isles and the Cuillins on Skye. Just a stone’s throw away, the water’s edge lets you watch the tide ebb and flow from your living room window whilst you enjoy the warmth from the wood burning stove.
There is an abundance of wildlife in the area, which makes it an excellent base for nature lovers – look out for golden eagles, red deer and pine martens as well as basking sharks and dolphins in the summer months. The children can build sandcastles, scramble around the rock pools or fly their kites. And for the more energetic, there are marked circular walks up and over the surrounding hills, cliff walks and even a cave to find round the shoreline. With three bedrooms and a spacious, well planned layout, Eilean Feoir suits families perfectly but also suits couples or small groups.
For spellbinding scenery and unforgettable sunsets, it never fails to impress.
All on one level, Eilean Feoir has a front porch leading to a hallway, living room with multi-fuel stove and a large open-plan kitchen with dining area and utility room. There is also a double bedroom with shower, en-suite toilet and basin, two twin bedrooms and a separate bathroom.[youtube video]

Can’t imagine a better eqipped, better maintained cottage. Want to take the kitchen home. Can’t imagine a better location either and is there a better view anywhere in the world? Very many thanks for a super holiday
Ardnamurchan is just as beautiful in the Winter. Fantastic break, plenty warm enough and appreciated the Christmas touches. Highlight – Rainbow in the bay on Christmas morning.
I returned to the village of Portuairk for the first time in over 20 years last summer. We booked the beautifully appointed Eilean Feoir, nestling in the side of the hill, overlooking the bay across to Sanna.
This modern bungalow is extremely well equipped and is prepared for all eventualities (calor gas lamps, candles incase of power cuts!), plenty of matches, wood and coal for the lovely log burning stove, satellite TV and CD player and linen upon request. All 3 bedrooms are of a good size and the beds are very comfy (a big must for me!) – even including an electric blanket for those renting in the colder months of the year. The owners, Janet & Alistair McColl have thought of just about everything to make it feel like a real home from home. They have even installed a payphone to save guests having to trail down to the public phone box (most mobile phones don’t get a signal in the village).
The village of Portuairk is beautiful, accessed by single track road and although some houses have been added since my last visit, it still has the feel of a real wee hidden treasure. The local beach is literally a stone’s throw from the road and if you enjoy hillwalking, there are plenty of walks to keep you happy. I never cease to be amazed by the view from the top of the approach road – it’s easy to feel everyday stresses and worries melt away. Go and see what I mean!
Fantastic secluded location great walks from the doorstep, wonderful wildlife (otter on walk along the coast, sea eagles over the bay), cottage very clean comfortable and well equipped fabulous view by day and clear starry nights and aurora borealis! Dogs loved it and large enclosed garden ideal for them. Ardnamurchan is somewhere we return again and again and this is one of the best locations.
