Dog-Friendly Cottages on Scotland’s West Coast
All of Steading’s cottages to rent in Scotland have stunning coastal views from the most westerly point of the British coast. Properties on the North and West coast of Ardnamurchan have views of the spectacular Western Isles and Outer Hebrides, whilst the South coast looks across the water to the Isle of Mull.
Luckily, we have a variety of dog-friendly cottages to choose from. With the open space, close by beaches and waterfronts, and hills to walk through, your dog will end up loving our area as much as you.
And we don’t discriminate, all of these cottages are cat-friendly as well!
Borve House – Sleeps 6
Set in a magnificent position, Borve House overlooks Sanna Bay and has spectacular views to the Small Isles and Skye. All on the ground floor: entrance lobby and cloakroom leading to the hall, large kitchen, utility room, separate toilet and washbasin, living room with dining area, open fire and patio doors opening onto a spacious balcony with table and garden chairs. Two double bedrooms, one twin bedroom and bathroom complete with shower. Total control heating and hot water. Dog friendly.
Bluebell Lodge – Sleeps 6
The front of the house offers a terrace and grassy area (perfect for your pet) surrounded by shrubs and trees . All on the ground floor: large and airy living room and dining area, with a kitchen leading off. One double bedroom, two twin bedrooms, bathroom with shower and additional toilet and washbasin.
The Byre – Sleeps 2
The dog friendly Byre was built in 1886, has now been creatively refurbished, giving a homely atmosphere. The house is fully heated guaranteeing a cosy stay, what ever time of the year. Ground floor: kitchen with dining area, bathroom & toilet, living room with multi-fuel stove. A spiral staircase in the living room leads to a small double bedroom with king size bed.
Caber Feidh – Sleeps 6
Caber Feidh is a well-appointed cosy and comfortable house. Ground floor: entrance lobby leading to open plan living / dining area with separate kitchen and bathroom with shower. Sleeping area with two 3ft beds (one stored under the other), curtained off from the living room. Upstairs: twin bed area on landing and a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Dog friendly accommodation.
Chalet – Sleeps 4
The Chalet at Ben Hiant has a warm and cosy atmosphere as well as amazing views of Kilchoan Bay and the Sound of Mull. It has a lovely open plan livingroom, diningroom and kitchen, a two good-sized bedrooms. The private garden and decking outside are a great place to enjoy al fresco dining and watch the sun setting.
Comraich – Sleeps 6
This “A” Frame has been completely refurbished inside, and landscaped with paved patio at the front. Ground floor: entrance lobby leading to open plan living/dining area with separate kitchen and bathroom (whirlpool bath and electric shower). Sleeping area with double bed, curtained off from the living room. Upstairs: twin bed area on landing and a double bedroom with en-suite shower room. Garden – Fenced secure for children and pets.
Dondies House – Sleeps 2
A very cosy, fresh, modern, fully equipped conversion of a byre. Ideal for a couple to enjoy stunning and panoramic views of the Small Isles and Skye from the comfort of the living room through the large patio doors. Five minute walk to sandy beaches. All on ground floor with laminated wooden flooring throughout: open plan kitchen and lounge with dining area and multi-fuel stove. Front entrance to hall leading to one double bedroom and shower room with toilet and washbasin.
Eilean Feoir – Sleeps 6
This modern, comfortable family home – a stone’s throw from the water’s edge – enjoys magnificent views. Watch the tide ebb and flow from your living room window. All on the ground floor: front porch leading to the hall, living room with multi-fuel stove, large kitchen and dining area, utility room, double bedroom with shower, toilet and basin en-suite, two twin bedrooms and bathroom.
Glashven – Sleeps 7
Glashven is an Edwardian Villa within a quarter of an acre of grassland with views, from all main living rooms views over the Sound of Mull. It is a substantial house with two double bedrooms and an additional bunk room situated off the landing, known affectionately as ‘The Captains Cabin’.
Ian’s Lodge – Sleeps 5
Set high up on the hillside, Ian’s “A” Frame has fine views over Kilchoan and the Sound of Mull, with the open hillside behind. Ground floor: entrance lobby leading to open plan living / dining area with separate kitchen and bathroom. Sleeping area with double bed and wash hand basin curtained off from the living room. Upstairs, single bed on the landing and twin bedroom.
Jack’s Ranch – Sleeps 8
Extensively refurbished in the last two years, this house is fully equipped to sleep 8 but is also suitable for smaller numbers. It is spacious, with terrace at the front and decking at the back, located amidst pleasantly wooded surroundings. All on the ground floor: kitchen with dining area and living room. One double bedroom, two twin bedrooms, alcove with bunks for two (separated by a curtain), bathroom with shower and additional toilet and washbasin.
Keeper’s West – Sleeps 4
Built at the same time as the lighthouse tower, these buildings are the original homes of the lighthouse keepers and their families. After falling into a state of disrepair in the years since automation thay have now been fully restored. The now offer a unique cottage ‘lifestyle’ experience for the self-catering visitor.
The Saltings – Sleeps 6
This comfortable house stands in its own fenced off garden, ideal for young children. Ground floor: hall with cloakroom leading to open plan living / dining area with separate kitchen and shower room. Bedroom with double bed, curtained off from the living room. Upstairs: bedroom with double bed and single bed, single bed on an open landing with balcony.
